Exhibition "Old Senica"
The "Old Senica" exhibition is one of the main features of the Senica Museum. This exhibition, which has been part of the museum's permanent displays since 2020, offers visitors a unique look at the historic center of Senica from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries through a 3D model of the city. The model was created over five years of expert research and meticulous work, during which historical details from that period were captured.
The idea for the creation of the model came from historians Vladimír Petrovič and Ján Peter, who undertook the task of researching historical maps, plans, and photographs. They then invited amateur modeler Jozef Kuruc to contribute his long-standing experience and skills to the production of the model.
The model, made to a scale of 1:100, depicts the authentic dimensions of historical buildings that no longer exist in the city today. Historical photographs, postcards, and cadastral maps from 1899 were used as the foundation for creating the model. Interestingly, most of the buildings depicted on the model no longer exist in Senica today. This makes the model a unique document that allows visitors to see what the city looked like in the past.
New Permanent Exhibition
With the addition of informational panels to the model, a new permanent exhibition was created in 2024 at the Senica Museum. This exhibition not only provides a view of the model itself but also offers details about the city's historical development and its significant parts. The model includes various architectural details that further bring to life the view of the historical town square at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This exhibition not only documents the city's past but also contributes to the development of local identity and supports regional patriotism. The project of installing the informational panels was made possible with financial support from the Trnava Self-Governing Region through the program "Support for Activities of Organizations in the Trnava Region."
